'What It Is?' was a series of 4 nights held in March, May, June and July 0f 2011 at Readings bookshop in Carlton.
Christine Gordon, the Events person at Readings, invited me to host a series of eveningslooking at comics, graphic novels and cartooning - a dream come true!
Each of the nights was constructed as a conversation, a performance, a provocation, and I was really lucky on each of the nights to be joined by collaborators who joined in with the spirit of freewheeling ideas, propositions and questions.
I was also really lucky that filmmaker Daniel Hayward agreed to record each night and what's more, make a two minute minidoco of each one!

May 2011 - Comics and France (and Angouleme) with Mike Shuttleworth (with music by Chris Coughran and a chat with Brenton McKenna about his graphic novel 'Ubby's Underdogs')
June 2011 - Comics and History with Alex McDermott
July 2011 - Comics and Song with Martin Martini
These were all amazing nights to do, and I'd give my right arm and eye tooth to do more of them some time...
