Bernard Caleo and John Retallick
That's me in the green hair and John Retallick in the ears.

Yep, I like to talk about both local and international comics, and happily Melbourne has a strong network of community broadcasting which has afforded me a few soapboxes to rant from.

Current

Radio >>> 'Drawn Out' - 3RRR

Every Thursday morning, 9am - 12midday on Smartarts, Richard Watts does a stirling job reporting on the arts in Melbourne and talking to every director, actor, painter, dancer, musician, sculptor, etcetera in town.  Once a month (sometimes the last Thursday, but by no means always), I drop in at 9.15am for a 20 minute chat about what's happening with comics, locally and overseas. 3RRR is 102.7 on your Melbourne FM dial or listen to it streamed

Past

Radio >>> The Comic Spot - 3CR (2007 - 2012)

John Retallick (again, above, in the ears), ran a fortnightly hour on Melbourne AM radio station 3CR, The Comic Spot, on which he talked exclusively about Australian comics, and interviews makers, curators and publishers.  And others.  John podcasts the shows on the blog as well - invaluable!  Jo Waite and I were the regular panellists. The last Comic Spot was recorded at the Home Cooked Comics Festival at Batman Park (yep!) in Northcote on Saturday 28 January 2012.

Radio >>>Artworks -Radio National (2011)

In August 2011 I was doing some kamishibai performances for the Melbourne Writers Festival schools program and was interviewed by Michael Shirrefs of the ABC Radio National Arts program 'Artworks'.  He also filmed the story I tell of the Snail who climbs Mount Fuji, which is here.

TV >>> 'Yartz' - Channel 31 (2008- 2010)

The community television Melbourne arts roundup programme, now on hold, which was masterminded by Ralph McLean (RIP Ralph, 1957- 2010). I was the erstwhile comics correspondant.   'Yartz' blog here.
Click here to watch me and Scott Gooding discussing Tom Taylor and Colin Wilson's comic book 'The Example', published by Gestalt Comics (youtube, 3minutes).
